I’ve been hearing great reviews about this foundation for quite some time now. I think the first time I read about this was from Rae of Raeviewer.com. It’s her holy grail foundation. But I couldn’t really justify buying a foundation worth 62 USD. I once checked out Beauty Bar and saw that it’s available in Manila. It costs a whopping 2750 pesos. Nah, I couldn’t – that’s what I’d always say.
Max of Maxieisuper tweeted about this foundation last week and my heart leaped from excitement. It’s on SALE!!! 45% off! Oh yes! I can finally give some justification in getting this foundation. If buying this will get me closer to finding my HG foundation, then I am all for it. And let’s not discount the fact that I will be getting it at a cheaper price too!
I think there were only 5-6 shades available in Beauty bar. PK-1, PK-2, OC-1, OC-2, OC-3. PK is for cool undertones and OC is for yellow/golden undertones. I think BE shades are available in the US though, it’s for people with yellow undertones as well. I got OC-1 since the SA said that it’s for light to medium skin. I was initially leaning towards getting OC-2 but she said that it’s for medium to dark skin. I swatched it on my hand and found it too dark even on my hand – which is usually darker than my face. So I tried OC-1 and used my hands to apply all over my face and it looked quite pale at first. OC-1 and OC-2 So I walked around the mall to see how it looks after it sets. Foundations usually oxidize on me as well so I usually need to get 1 shade lighter than my skintone. After having lunch, I went out of the mall and checked how the foundation looked like in natural light. I settled for OC-1 since it set quite well. It oxidized a little bit, just enough for it to blend on my skin pretty amazingly. This is an oil-free foundation but has a luminous finish so if you’re oily, I suggest you set this with a powder to avoid looking very oily at the end of the day.
Since this foundation is quite expensive, I will have to reserve this for special days. I did a tested it last Sunday though. I had the foundation on from 12nn to 8pm. I used a Laura Merceir’s oil free primer before applying the foundation and set it with Benefit’s Hello Flawless Powder foundation.
This is how it looks after application:
After 3 and a half hours:
After 4.5-5 hours:
When I went home at 8pm, I checked my face and saw that I definitely needed to blot since I looked quite oily on my T-zone. It looks quite oily but it’s doesn’t look that bad. It still has that luminous glow without looking like an oil factory. Sorry, didn’t get to take a pic!
If you want a luminous glow, i think this foundation is for you. I have oily-combo skin and when set with a powder, I think it can last at least 8 hours. If set with powder and setting spray, maybe it can last ~10 hours. If you’re very oily, I don’t think this foundation will suit you.
