REVIEW: Dior Fluid Sticks in Open Me and Mona Lisette (+ Swatches)

From Dior’s Website:

Flawless application in a single sweep: the high-impact colour and long wear of a lipstick, combined with the shine of a gloss, all in a thin veil that delivers a weightless feel. Colour and shine come together for maximum impact with intense lip stain pigments directly encapsulated in spheres of gloss for long-wearing results. Dior Addict Fluid Stick is formulated with water, not wax, for a light feeling on the lips, an immediate fresh effect and addictive sensation…

A pure object of desire : the illusion of a lipstick is maintained until the case is opened and an applicator emerges that is steeped in colour and as precise and easy to apply as a lipstick.

17 explosive shades like so many flashes of brilliance. Decidedly Dior, Tremendously Couture…

These Dior fluid sticks are my most favorite beauty buy from my recent Korea trip. Have you seen the packaging? IT IS GORGEOUS. The packaging looks very similar to Maybelline Elixirs but Dior takes it to the next level.

I got 2 shades: 872 Mona Lisette  and 753 Open Me. I bought it for 32 USD in Lotte Duty Free in Seoul. Fun fact: This fluid stick retails for 35 USD in the US. I was actually surprised this is sold cheaper in Seoul! More on my duty free buys in another post.

I’ve been using this for a week and my lips have been loving the formula. First of all, it doesn’t chap my lips.  I applied this without putting a balm first and it didn’t chap my lips. Second, Dior doesn’t says it’s moisturizing but for me, it is. Third, it’s not very long lasting but it does leave a beautiful stain at the end of the day. This is the best lipstick/gloss formula that I’ve ever tried. It starts very glossy and slightly tacky when freshly applied but it kind of dries down to a satin finish. It’s very pigmented and I never needed to re-dip the wand for another coat.

Mona Lisette (872) is a red with an orange undertone. Women with yellow skintone will love this shade as this suits them very well. It’s a good shade to wear when you just want a pop of color and you want to keep the rest of your face neutral. Too bad, this is shade is only available in Asia and Europe. DSC03418 DSC03417

Open Me (753) is a medium pink that leans on the coral side. Although it doesn’t look coral on my photos below, it is quite coral in person. This shade leans on the warmer end of the spectrum and will be great for everyday.

Maybelline Elixirs is probably the most similar product I’ve tried to these fluid sticks but Dior has better formulation.  If you love lipsticks and lipgloss, you need this in your life guys. I know it’s not cheap but the quality of the formula and packaging is excellent. I cannot wait to buy nude/lighter shades!
