REVIEW: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Fiji

Today I bring to you my thoughts on one of the much raved foundations by bloggers and Youtube vloggers alike: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation.

Nars sheer glow 1

I bought this foundation at Bangkok airport last year and I was matched to the shade Fiji by the SA at the NARS counter. I think it cost me around 1750 BAHT. When I first got this,  it was my mom who used it most of the time because  I didn’t like how it look on my skin. It looked nice when first applied but at the end of the day, it looked patchy on my skin. FYI –  I have oily combination skin, I am oily on my t-zone and a little bit on the chin and the rest is normal.

I recently rediscovered this product  when I realized that my mom has been enjoying it and thought I’d give it another try. I wasn’t enjoying it at first because I was not applying much of the product, I was only using half pump when I should be using a full pump worth of product. I swear one pump is not that much and I learned that half a pump is not enough.  On days when I need better coverage, this is my go-to foundation. Though it says “Sheer Glow”, it’s not the sheerest of foundations but it has that glow that doesn’t make you look oily.  I was wearing it for my friend’s wedding (photo below) and it looked beautiful in flash photography because it doesn’t contain SPF. I still set this with a translucent powder / setting powder because I have oily skin.

This was taken after 7 hours of wear. I have not powdered nor blotted and it doesn’t look overly oily.

More photos! This one was taken right after I did my makeup for the day. Look at how flawless my skin looks.  Even with flash, it doesn’t give a white cast.

Overall, I really like this foundation. It’s medium coverage but you can stretch it to  full if you layer it on. It looks amazing on the skin without being cakey. I am not sure how this manages to be matte but “glowy” at the same time – it’s that amazing!

If you can get a sample from your local Nars counter (I know this might not be even feasible here in the Philippines), try it because you’ll never know, this might be your holy grail foundation.
