I’ve been on a roll the past weeks. I think this January is the most I have posted in a month. I have a lot products in the back burner so I hope I could sustain this.
Okay, so for this post I will talk about NARS Audacious lipsticks. NARS released this new range of lipsticks Fall 2014 in celebration of its 20th anniversary. I’ve already mentioned Vera in this post. It comes in 40 shades and I will review 2 for you here, Raquel and Vera.
Read more about it after the cut!
The lipstick is cased in a pretty heavy metal enclosure. As you can see in the photos, the case attracts fingerprints like shizz. This doesn’t bother me that much though. What I super love about the packaging in that satisfying click you hear when you put the cap on. It’s magnetic, guys. It’s kind of orgasmic, you know.
That’s how immaculate the lisptick looks so I made sure I captured it well on camera. HAHA.
Vera is a berry-red shade. I compared this shade with my collection of berry lipsticks. It’s has a little bit of red, pink and berry in it. It’s a lovely color. Super love! I think the more notable thing about these lipsticks is its texture. It’s creamy and pigmented and lightweight. Packs a punch but you don’t feel it as much on the lips. The texture is similar to Givency Le Rouge lipsticks, but Nars is 6-7 USD cheaper (based on US retail price). Wear time is actually pretty good. I didn’t have to re-apply throughout the day. It fades evenly and leaves a stain after 6-7 hours of wear.
Raquel is a shade I bought because I was looking for a dupe to Makeup Forever’s Mat 1. I’ve tried Mat 1 at the MUFE counter here and though the color is gorgeous and looks like the perfect nude for me, I didn’t like how it was so drying on the lips. I checked out Temptalia and saw that this was the closest shade to it. Raquel is a pinky beige nude shade. Like Vera, it is creamy, has excellent pigmentation and I like how perfectly nudey it looks on my skintone without washing me out.
These are my favorite high-end lipsticks to date. They are absolutely unnecessary since these shades are pretty dupeable. You can find similar shades in the drugstore. I went ahead and bought them because I am a beauty addict so of course I wanted to try it. I am going to Korea again soon so I may or may not get more shades…
