Wassup, I am back with another post! I recently went on a trip to Melbourne and I thought of doing a blogpost of what makeup I’d bring there. But then things got crazy so I wasn’t able to make the post. So now that I am back, I am able to gather my thoughts and do a post that will hopefully be helpful to travellers.
I was in Melbourne for 9 days, it was near the end of winter. Cold, but not snowing. So I opted for dewy foundations/tinted moisturizer and decided to leave the powder behind. I made sure I had all lip color options, a pink, a red, a nude. As much as possible, I stayed away for mattes because it will dry my lips more. I brought a gloss because I know it will save me in the cold weather. I had two cheek options too- one cream and one powder. I brought cream shadow sticks and an eyeshadow palette. As for brushes, I brought a buffing brush, a blush brush, stippling brush and 2 eye brushes. I was able to fit everything in 3 pouches – that include skincare, body care and makeup. I was quite impressed with my packing skills if I may say.
But when I was there, there were things that I wasn’t really using very much.
What I used:
Face: Bourjois CC cream (Beige Clair) and Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (Nude) – I mix these two to get my perfect base. For concealer, I opted for the creamy and moisturizing one which is Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I use 15 shade under my eyes and 20 on the redness and discoloration.
Brow: Face Shop Design My Brows brow liner (02)+ Nichido eyebrow gel in Brunette
Eyes: Laura Mercier caviar sticks in Copper (for brightening) and Cocoa (for definition in outer V). Essence Brown Eyeliner for my upper lash line and waterline. Since I forgot to bring mascara, I had to buy from a local brand called Australis. I got the Voluptulash kind. I just looked for the cheapest on BigW and this one has pretty ok reviews online too.
Cheeks: I love love Nars Lovejoy! I super appreciated this blush during this trip! It is quite a nude / bronzer type of blush but with a slight non-chunky shimmer in it. Perfect for the cold weather. I didn’t have to bring a separate highlighter yey!
Lips: Clarins Instant Lip Perfector saved my lips especially during the 12 hour flight. It’s so moisturizing, non-sticky and very comfortable on the lips. 01 Rose Shimmer doesn’t give too much color but it’s a nice MLBB shade for me. When I am out and about and felt that the wind is too strong or it’s just too cold, I use the Laura Mercier lip glace in Blush on my lips. It’s a nice deeper MLBB shade. But my most used lippie is Happy Skin’s Power Pout in Strong and Sexy. It packs a punch in pigmentation and moisture. Perfect for the colder weather. It kept my lips nice and soft at the end of the day.
Brushes: Zoeva face definer I used as blush brush, MAC 217 for my eyes and Ecotools angled liner brush for my upper lash line.
What I didn’t use often or didn’t use at all:
I didn’t end up using the palette because the caviar sticks are so much more convenient – easy to apply and blend. I ended up using my fingers to blend my base since it’s so cold that products blend better using my warm fingers. Cream blush, nah, I was very satified with Lovejoy. I didn’t get to use the other lip options because I ended up buying something from Duty Free on the way there so those were my alternate lippie product. Will do a post on it next!
I hope this was at least helpful to my wanderlust friends! Watch out for my next post. It may or may not be about a haul on Aesop…
